Jesus what a mighty name

Every knee will bow to you

May every tongue proclaim

Jesus what a mighty name

Forever you shall reign

The name above all names

Jesus what a mighty name

Emmanuel: God with us

Jesus is the name above all names.  He is God (John 3:1-3, 14), redeemer (Titus 2:14), justifier (Romans 5:1), He saves us, and has sealed us for the resurrection (Ephesians 1:13).  His name is wonderful.

  1. JESUS AS GOD:
  2. Was Predicted in the Old Testament: Isaiah 7:14 (NKJV) explains, “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.”
  3. Was Fulfilled in the New Testament: Matthew 1:22-23 (NKJV) says, “So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: "Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel," which is translated, "God with us."
  4. Was Promised to All God’s People in All Times: Matthew 28:20b (NIV): “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age”. This verse teaches us that Jesus will be with those who believe in Him until the end of time.
  5. JESUS’ SUFFERING WAS:
  6. Predicted in the Old Testament: Isaiah 53:8-11 reads (NKJV): “He was taken from prison and from judgment, and who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living; For the transgressions of My people He was stricken. And they made His grave with the wicked — But with the rich at His death, because He had done no violence, nor was any deceit in His mouth. Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, And the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand.  He shall see the labor of His soul and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, for He shall bear their iniquities.
  7. Fulfilled in the New Testament:
  8. The persecuted: Jesus led a life of persecution John 5:16 (NKJV) says, “For this reason the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill Him, because He had done these things on the Sabbath.”
  9. The punished: He was brutally beaten on the day of His death, Mark 14:65 (NKJV) claims, “Then some began to spit on Him, and to blindfold Him, and to beat Him, and to say to Him, ‘Prophesy!’ And the officers struck Him with the palms of their hands.”
  10. The payment: He died a cruel death, John 19:30 (NKJV) explains, “So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, ’It is finished’’ And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.”

III. JESUS AS SAVIOR: Jesus was born to:

  1. Save: Matthew 1:20-21 (NKJV), “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins."
  2. Serve: Isaiah 49:26 (NKJV) says, “All flesh shall know That I, the Lord, am your Savior, And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.
  3. Sacrifice: Luke 2:11-12 (NKJV) explains, “For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”
  4. JESUS AS PROVIDER:

Jesus will supply all our needs through the work of the Holy Spirit.  Philippians 4:19 (NKJV), “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 2:25 (NKJV), “Yet I considered it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker, and fellow soldier…  because for the work of Christ he came close to death, not regarding his life, to supply what was lacking in your service toward me.”  Philippians 1:19 (NKJV), “For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ.”

  1. JESUS A ADVOCATE:

My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.”  Hebrews 10:12 But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified (1 John 2:1).

  1. By Pronouncement: But this Man
  2. By Purpose: after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever
  3. By Position: sat down at the right hand of God
  4. By Possession: He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified

Make Christ the Center of your Life

Merry Christmas!
