“But the eye of their God was watching over the elders of the Jews, and they were not stopped until a report could go to Darius and his written reply be received.” – Ezra 5:5

When Leonardo da Vinci was commissioned to paint the Last Supper on the chapel wall in Millan, Italy, he decided to break the artistic conventions of the time and try new techniques and compositions. In addition to choosing to paint in tempura rather than a traditional fresco, Leonardo also focused on the facial expressions of each of the 12 disciples at the exact moment when Christ announced that one of them would betray him to depict Judas.

Leonardo used one point perspective, which involves all the lines in the painting converging in one place, known as the vanishing point. This strategy was used to emphasize the importance and central position of Christ. The lines all converge in His right eye, drawing the viewer's gaze to this place.

The Lord is not only watching, but He is actively in control.  Today in prayer, praise Jesus that His eye is upon you.

“Faith is the gaze of the heart at God it is but the raising of our inward eyes to meet the all-seeing eyes of God.” – A.W. Tozer

God’s Word: “For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” – 2 Chronicles 16:9a
