“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” – 2 Timothy 4:7

The Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence 3,100 Mile Race is the world's longest certified foot race.

The distance is so staggeringly preposterous that some of those who take part don't think they are capable of it - even after they have completed it.

The course is a half-mile around a New York City block. But they run it 5,649 times. They must complete it within 52 days during the heat of the summer. The course is closed for 6 hours each day, a time when runners can eat, tend to their feet, and sleep

"It was the most overwhelming moment of my running life," said Scotland's William Sichel, an ultra-running legend and holder of 693 world, British and Scottish records who completed the race in 2014.

"Never think of the whole distance," warns American Suprabha Beckjord. She encouraged runners to be in the moment and to “get joy from the simple things.”

Life is a marathon, we need to never think of the whole distance, but take every step with Jesus. Today in prayer, praise the Lord that when we are faithful to walk with Him, He is with us.

“Regret looks back, Worry looks around, Faith looks up.” – John Mason

God’s Word: “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.” – 1 Corinthians 9:24
