Easter on the Hill

Posted

The Hill Church in La Mesa, CA, had another successful Easter on the Hill event thanks to the support of the San Diego Southern Baptist Association (SDSBA)!

On Saturday, April 19th, we had around 180 people attend our event this year. Some of those were people who had come in previous years, but there were also many new faces. The community was blessed with free food, treats, games, and fun for the whole family, and it created many opportunities for the gospel to be shared and genuine relationships to be built with those outside of our church.

Three experiences are standouts from this year.

First, one of our members, Matt, invited his neighbor and daughter. His neighbor leans towards Zen Buddhism ideology. At our welcome table, we were passing out free bracelets with four icons on them that were meant to spark a conversation about the gospel. Matt’s neighbor took a bracelet and asked Matt what the icons meant, and Matt was able to share the gospel with him in full. We are praying for continued conversations and salvation for Matt’s neighbor.

We also had a family in our church invite family friends who are agnostic; it was their first time at a church building ever. They were pleasantly surprised by how nice and normal church people were! Though they did not attend our Easter service on Sunday, they did ask a lot of questions about church and what it’s like, and we are praying that they will come visit us again on a Sunday morning, will hear the gospel, and will be saved.

Finally, another one of our members, Audrey, invited friends who grew up in the Catholic church. Another member was able to connect with them and share the gospel with them as well.

We are very encouraged by how the Lord has used our meager efforts to love our neighbors to draw people to himself. We are praying for those who heard the gospel that the Holy Spirit would give them faith to believe and trust in Jesus. We praise the Lord for the faithfulness of the members in our body to invite neighbors and friends and to share the Good News with joy!
