“Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.” – Proverbs 16:3

In 203 AD in Carthage in Northern Africa, Perpetua was a married noblewoman who committed her life to Christ. The 22 years old was arrested for her faith and she began writing about her imprisonment. She was a new nursing mother and her child was taken away from her. She and her slave Felicity, who was pregnant at the time, were imprisoned together. Perpetua’s diary became known as “The Passion of Perpetua and Felicity”. It is one of the most important historical documents of the early church and narrates their sufferings and death. Regularly the two women were interrogated by the Romans to renounce their faith in Christ. Perpetua’s own father pleaded with her to turn from her faith.

In her diary, Perpetua recorded her commitment to Christ: “When my father in his affection for me was trying to turn me from my purpose by arguments and thus weaken my faith, I said to him, ‘Do you see this vessel—waterpot or whatever it may be? Can it be called by any other name than what it is?’ ‘No,’ he replied. ‘So also I cannot call myself by any other name than what I am—a Christian.’”

The Lord asks us to commit to the Lord whatever we do. Today in prayer, commit all that you do to the Lord and seek to faithfully seek Him.

"Give me 100 men who hate nothing but sin and love God with all their hearts and I will shake the world for Christ!" - John Wesley

God’s Word: “Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.” – Psalm 37:5-6
