“Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just. And those who walk in pride he is able to humble.” – Daniel 4:37

Dr. Fred Andrea told the following story in the Eastern Hills Baptist Church Messenger:

“A big car with an out-of-town license plate stopped in front of the Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, Georgia.  A man in the car got out, camera in hand, to take a picture of the church where former President Jimmy Carter is a member.  A fellow in overalls and baseball cap was mowing the church lawn. He happened to be in the way of the picture the tourist wanted so the visitor asked the man mowing the lawn to move so that he could take the picture.  Without saying a word the workman smiled and pushed his mower out of the way.

A little later the visitor was bragging about his picture at one of the gift shops in Plains.  He spoke about how pleased he was to get a picture of the church where the former President is a member.  The store owner asked if there had not been a fellow cutting the grass when he was there.  The visitor said yes, there was but he was kind enough to get out of the way for him to take the picture.  "What a shame," the storeowner exclaimed, "your picture would have been a real prize with the man and the lawnmower in it.  You see, that was President Carter cutting the grass.”

The Lord desires for us to be humble in all of our ways. Today in prayer, confess any sin of pride and seek to be humble in all that you do.

“He that is down needs fear no fall,

He that is low, no pride;

He that is humble ever shall

Have God to be his guide.” - John Bunyan

God’s Word: “He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” – Micah 6:8
