“So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him.” – Acts 12:5

On January 11, 2015, his friend, Christian Pastor Peter Yein Reith, was arrested in Sudan after inquiring about fellow Pastor Michael Ruot in a letter he sent to the Religious Affairs Office in Khartoum.
For months, both pastors, who are from South Sudan, were secretly detained and held on unknown charges. Their families did not know their whereabouts.
Then seven months later on August 5, 2015, a Sudanese judge released Pastors Michael and Peter after an international advocacy campaign for their freedom.
Following their release, the two pastors shared their gratefulness.
Pastor Michael said, “They released us today. We are happy. We had heard we won't be released. But praise God!”  Pastor Peter echoed his friend’s joy saying, “We are very happy now we are free because of your prayers. Thank you for all that you have done for us.”

There are many in the world that are being persecuted or are imprisoned for their faith in Christ. Today in prayer, ask the Lord to strengthen those who are imprisoned and to hasten their release.

“Jesus promised his disciples three things – that they would be completely fearless, absurdly happy, and in constant trouble.” – G.K. Chesterton

God’s Word: “Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.” – James 5:13-14
