“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9

An old shoemaker’s awl is on prominent display in the French Academy of Science. That awl fell from the shoemaker’s table one day and put out the eye of his 9-year-old son. Soon, the child became blind in both eyes and had to attend a school for the blind. At this school, the child learned to read by handling large, carved, wooden blocks.
When the shoemaker’s blind son grew up, he thought of a new way for the blind to read. It involved punching tiny dots onto paper, and Louis Braille devised this new method using the same awl that had blinded him in his youth.
When there is a falling awl in each of our lives we can ask one of two questions. “When it strikes, we can ask, ‘Why did God allow this to happen?’ Or we can ask, ‘How will God use it?’”

Troubles will come to all of us, but God can give us the strength to do His good purpose. Today in prayer, give Jesus your troubles and trust in Him to strengthen you.

"The way to grow strong in Christ is to become weak in yourself.” – Charles H. Spurgeon

God’s Word: “But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9
