FINDING GRACE IN THE NAMES OF JESUS – PART Ten

HUIOS TAU THEOS /SON OF MAN, HUIOS TAU ANTHROPOS (Lesson 5)

JESUS DIED A HUMAN DEATH:

Philippians 2:8 (NASB) says, “And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”

LORD

NT:2962, Greek, kurios (koo'-ree-os): [1] The Eternal One

JESUS HAS ALWAYS EXISTED:

(John 1:1: “In the beginning was the word”).  The key word is the verb of being “was.”  Jesus already existed “in the beginning.”

JESUS EXISTS NOW:

1 john 2:1 (NKJV): “I write these things unto you that you may not sin.  But if any man sins we have an Advocate with the Father…”  Jesus sits at the right hand of God (Mark 16:19).

JESUS WILL ALWAYS EXIST:

Ephesians 3:21 explains His eternal existence when it says, “to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

CHRIST

NT:5547, Greek, ‎Christos (khris-tos'):[2] The Sacrificial One.

JESUS SUPPLIED THE PAYMENT FOR OUR SIN:

Romans 6:23 (NKJV) says about salvation, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Salvation is a free gift made available to us by the grace of God, by faith in the provision made by Jesus.

JESUS IS THE HOPE OF OUR SALVATION:

Acts 4:12 discusses that hope and its exclusivity, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

JESUS PREPARES A PLACE FOR US:

John 14:2-3 (NKJV), “I go to prepare a place for you. and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

So, why the virgin birth?  Because it was the only way that Jesus could be God and man at the same time.  It was the only course of action that would satisfy the requirement of a sacrifice of blood to cover our sin.  Jesus became Immanuel, God with Us, only God could be the author and finisher of our faith.  He was born the Son of God, the Human One, only God in human flesh could be a model for living the life that He wants us to live.  He is Lord, the eternal one, only God could be the same yesterday, today, and forever.  Finally, Jesus Christ is the sacrificial one, since only God could be our Kinsman Redeemer.
