Festival Día del Niño

Kids’ Day Festival

Posted

The Día del Niño Festival is an annual celebration that our church has, to celebrate the kids of our congregation and the community. During this festival we have an opening ceremony in which the gospel is shared with the present families. This year we had, Dr. Calcetinksy as our special guest speaker. Dr. Caletincksy is a character created by one of our church members who shares the gospel through different scientific experiments. After the opening ceremony, kids and their families are invited to our fair which includes games, music, and, of course, all the San Diego Southern Baptist Association (SDSBA) party trailer activities.

It is important to say that our weekly attendance averages  70 people, while 200 people attended our event.  Although we did not count any salvations during the event, many families stated that they were seriously considering coming back to our church.

The biggest challenge that we faced during this year was the weather. The rain was so bad in Chula Vista that we were really close to cancelling the event. We had set a time for the rain to stop. We literally said: “If it doesn’t stop raining by 2:00 PM the event will be cancelled”. The whole church started praying for the rain to stop, and guess what happened? It was 1:45 PM when the rain stopped and the sun came out! Our faith grew as we saw God answering our prayers in such a fast way.

Without the party trailer, it would have been pretty much impossible for us to serve more than 200 people during that day. We had planned for no more than 150, but attendance overpassed our expectations. Thanks to all the supplies provided by SDSBA we were able to serve all the community members that attended the event.

Our church members are just waiting for the next big event! The level of excitement and commitment seemed to increase thanks to this event.
