El Shaddai – God Almighty (Part 3)

Finding Grace in the Names of God

God’s power is expressed to mankind as grace; we cannot resist Him.

It is due to His love for us and the fact that He is a God of power and grace that He provided for mankind’s redemption.

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace (Ephesians 1:7, NKJV).

God’s mission for believers is represented by His redemptive plan.  The redemptive plan of God is a picture of His ultimate and unlimited power and grace.  Before the world even began, before there was any universe or created thing, God had a plan for mankind’s redemption.  The plan predicted in the Old Testament (Isaiah 53) saw its manifestation with Jesus’ birth, life, suffering for our sin on a lonely, brutal cross, death, burial, and resurrection.  Here Christians see the overwhelming power, the unlimited grace, and deep love that God has for us.  The actions and results of which humbles us and leaves us with no adequate words that can express our thanks.

Equally astounding is that this love for His ultimate creation stands side by side with mankind’s unworthiness and lack of appreciation for His personal sacrifice.  The redemption of man is the beginning of and the ultimate fate of Christians.  Redemption is the prime ingredient in God’s Plan.  For believers to live in eternity with Him is His greatest plan.  God knows our hearts and every thought, we cannot dismiss Him.

It is by His grace that God provided for our salvation.

Salvation is found in no-one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.  For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them (Ephesians 2:8-10, NKJV).

God’s plan or will for each human being is a perfect plan because God is perfect.  When humans believe in God through the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and live within this perfect plan they maintain a personal, unbroken relationship with God.  But living within God’s plan is not easy for Christians and is impossible for unbelievers.  Unregenerate mankind is by nature at war with God.  James 4:4b (AMP) says, “Do you not know that being the world's friend is being God's enemy? So, whoever chooses to be a friend of the world takes his stand as an enemy of God.”

So what hope is there?  Jesus is the hope.  Belief through faith alone, by His grace, rescues believers from an unrepentant nature here on earth and prepares them for eternal life to come.  Romans 5:1 (NASB) tells Christians, “Therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Romans 10:9-10 (NKJV) tells us, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”  Salvation and our relationship with God are predicated on this one statement found in Romans.

Then Jesus came to them and said, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me (Matthew 28:18).

Jesus walked in the power of El Shaddai because that is who he was. Because Jesus was completely God in bodily form, we can simply make the conclusion that he was El Shaddai in the flesh. He was God Almighty in human form. That’s why this verse in Matthew also makes more sense when seen through the lens of God Almighty.[1]
