Easter on The Hill

Posted

Our second annual Easter on The Hill event was held on Saturday April 20th from 11am-1:30pm at The Hill Church in La Mesa. The laughter and playfulness of the children in attendance echoed through the streets surrounding Helix High School, La Mesa Arts Academy and La Mesa Dale Elementary School all leading to our drive way.

We had party jumpers, games, nachos, cotton candy, popcorn amongst other attractions. The big event of the day outside of delicious free tacos was our BIG Easter Egg Hunt. We led the march from our Hill to the fields at Helix. The children grabbed hands, got their bags ready and played kazoos along the path, drawing more kiddos from the neighborhood out of their apartments and onto the field. The gospel was presented, our neighbors were fed and the kiddos took home upwards of 3500 eggs filled with treats and candy. This year we had a huge return from Saturday to Easter Sunday. We easily had 15-20 of our guests join us for service the next day.

Each of our Loving Servants (Volunteers) interacted with many of our guests! Encouraging conversations and scheduled connections were made. I personally volunteer at La Mesa Dale and the President of the PTA has seen our love for the community and our neighbors through our help with the school that she had to come to see what we were all about! That was encouraging to my heart. Deeper relationships are being made, and events like this open up opportunities for our ‘touches’ to have a safe place to come and explore.
